-The average car count for CRA was 36.
-The year started off with a two day Walt James Classic. Ed Reed won the
Manzanita -Main Event from the last starting position on day one. Day two gave the
win to Bob Meli.
-Rickie Gaunt took his first checkered flag with a consi win at Ascot in July.
-Billy Boat scored his first ever CRA Main Event win at Manzy in September, it
was also the first win for Billy's owner, Mardi Madden. 24 hours later the
Boat/Madden team scored win # 2 at the same track.
-The year ended with Ron Shuman and Morales the Champions.
-Rich Vogler won his first CRA main event at Mesa Marin, it was the first CRA
asphalt race in 12 years.
-One week later Jeff Gordon became the youngest CRA main event winner at 18,
also at Mesa Marin.
-1989 was marred by the tragic loss of 1988 'Rookie of the Year,' Jeff Bagley.
