| WILEY WINS SECOND 2008 NMRA-TQ MIDGET

BAKERSFIELD, CA., Jul. 19 -- Kenny Wiley recorded his second NMRA-TQ
(3/4) Midget Series victory of the season in round six of the
11-race point season. It was the fourth feature triumph of his
seven-year TQ Midget racing career. The 2002 NMRA rookie of the year
and 2007 NMRA driving champion started fifth, took the lead on lap
11 and won the 11-car,25-lap race at the banked, third-mile clay
Bakersfield Speedway. Wiley, 47, drove Paul Lopiccolo's No. 21 Rick
Stewart chassis with Honda power. The pair won their first feature
this year on May 3 at Santa Maria Speedway. Wiley cllimbed to fourth
in current NMRA points despite being absent at one event this year. Chuck West, a three-time NMRA feature winner this season, came from eighth starting spot to finish second in West Evans' Stealth/Kawasaki. Bruce Hiroshima started ninth and climbed to third at the finish. Scott Dobson came from seventh grid position to place fourth. Rookie Anthony Lopiccolo, son the the main event winning car owner, earned fifth. Ron Ahrendt, Scott Niven, rookie Jimmy Dodson, Jeff Marshall, West Evans and Steve Parke completed the top 11 drivers. Marshall led the first ten laps and completed 20 laps. The first seven drivers all ran 25 laps. West, from sixth starting position, and Lopiccolo, from second, won the pair of eight-lap heat races in six and five car fields respectively. The next NMRA -TQ point race will be held on Wednesday night, July 30 at Ventura Raceway during the opening night of the annual Ventura County Fair. Admission to the fiar includes admission to the grandstand for the races, which ensures a packed grandstand each year for the races. The event includes junior midgets and junior Ford Focus midgets, plus a demolition derby at the concludion of racing on the fifth-mile clay oval. The second night of racing on Thursday, July 31 will have USAC Ford Focus Midgets, IMCA Modifieds, junior FF midgets and another demolition derby.
