IRWINDALE, Calif., May 28 - Midget and
TQ Midget veteran Alex Harris, aboard his own TCR chassis, won his
third consecutive USAC Ford Focus Midget 35-lap feature Saturday on
the Irwindale Speedway paved third-mile.It was his fifth main event
victory during his initial FF campaign. As fifth fastest qualifier
in a 21-car field he started second in a six-car inverted lineup.
Point leader Audra Sasselli started third and ran
a close second to Harris all the way in her Dave Zoriki Beast. She
tried an inside pass entering the first turn on lap 14 after the
second of two caution flags for solo spins. She trailed by 0.696
seconds. Pole starter Bobby Owens drove his Stealth to third, 1.663
seconds behind Harris. Rookies Benny Moon and Jace Meier completed
the top five in a pair of Ron and Kim Sutton Stealths. Seventeen of
the season-high 21 starters finished and 15 drivers completed all 35
laps.
