SANTA MARIA, CA., Oct. 16 - Rain
canceled the final main event of the NMRA-TQ Midget 2004 season
after two heat races had been run Saturday at Santa Maria Speedway.
Alex Harris and Scott Hansen, driving the two Greg Edenholm-owned
cars, won the eight-lap heats for the 13 cars present.
Following a 12-main event season for the reformed
TQ-Midget racing sanctioning body, Steve Lambert won the driving
championship by 27-points over Chuck West, the 2002 NMRA champion.
Lambert, the 2003 NMRA champion, set one fast time, won a single
main event, had ten top five finishes and 12 top tens. Ten different
drivers won features and 32 drivers earned 2004 points.
Former driver Greg Edenholm, the 2003 car owner
champion, won the 2004 car owner championship with his No. 2 car.
Edenholm's No. 1 title-winning car from last year finished sixth
this year. Owner/driver West Evans' No. 38 car finished second and
trailed the title-winning car by only seven points. Twenty-one cars
earned points.
