Thirty-one
cars staged at this northern Ohio oval. Each
was in pursuit of the victory at this new venue for the SCRA.
Joining us tonight were 305 c.i. winged sprints, which run here on a
regular basis. SCRA driver, Troy
Rutherford had set the track record last year in an open competition show at
14.464. Tonight, five cars exceeded
the old record with J.J. Yeley setting the new standard at 14.161.
Capturing the heats were Mike
Kirby, Rodney Argo, Richard Griffin and A.J. Anderson.
Damion Gardner jumped from fourth to the lead and victory in the Dash.
Troy Rutherford came back to win the Semi over Charles Davis Jr. and Levi
Jones.
Damion led the feature from his
pole starting position for a number of laps, until J.J. was able to catch up and
the dice was on. They each would
gain the advantage with the other charging back to move ahead once again.
Finally Yeley was able to overcome Gardner and claim the spoils, while
Damion again collected the runner-up spot.
John Scott had some of the worst
luck as his primary car had its engine expire in hot laps.
He brought out the backup car as an added entry and was involved in an
altercation during the feature that caused several breaks in his chassis.
This meant his crew had two engine changes to perform, pulling the bad
engine from the primary car, then the good engine from the broken chassis and
finally installing that engine into the primary car, then, making the long tow
to Williams Grove, about an eight to nine hour drive.
Hats off to the whole Scott Motorsports team for a job well done.
