ASCS VIDEO PREVIEW &
NOTES
Waterford
,
CA
…Hello my fellow racing enthusiasts. As we kick out 2006 and
bring in 2007, I would again like to thank all of those who have
supported me during an extremely rough and rugged 2006.
I would like to share a
real nice gift that I received for Christmas. When something
comes through my hand that is pretty cool, I like to share it.
High Vista Video
Productions “ASCS 2006 Year In Review” tape is absolutely
awesome. We push off at the Florida Winter Nationals and end the
year at Devils Bowl.
What I really liked about
this video is not only an astounding $20 price for 2 action
packed DVD’s, but they also give the name of who turned over,
and they also let us know where we towed into, the date, and the
top-5. The clarity is fantastic!
With guys like Jesse
Hockett, Kevin Ramey, Nick Smith, Jason Johnson, Brian Brown,
Chuck Swenson, Dustin Daggett, Gary Wright, and a host of other
ASCS mashers, I encourage everyone to take a peak at this video.
I would also like to add;
anyone that doesn’t think winged Sprint Car racing has no
passing, check out these guys. The racing is absolutely
incredible. 13-year-old Trey Robb is one to look out for.
This video also visits the
different regions as well. This annual video will always be a
welcome visitor under my tree, get it here…

Let’s head back to
California
…
It looks like a great year
for tracks in
California
so far. As fans, on just about any weekend, we can catch our
favorite driver somewhere…
The Thunderbowl will be
hosting The Outlaws, The Trophy Cup, GSC, USAC Sprint Cars, even
a USAC Midget show!
With Kings Speedway in
Hanford
putting out an aggressive schedule, I really look forward to
visiting the speed plant on multiple occasions and come home
with multiple sunburns. It gets hot as hell down there, but the
racing is just as hot, so who cares right?! Midgets and Sprint
Cars with and without wings = Hell Yes!
Marysville is being
“massaged” as we speak. I like Marysville, and wish the
joint a prosperous ’07.
Chico
will be seeing my ugly mug on selected Friday shows after work.
A tight ass like me really can’t beat the price of admission
or the entertainment that place produces. I really, really,
really, love that place! Not a bad seat in the house baby, and
that track really puts those engines to work!
The tricky
Placerville
clay will find me during most Civil War shows. I don’t know
about you guys, but when you have 50 cars going for it at that
track, it really makes what little hair I do have, stand on the
back of my neck.
The Johnny Key Memorial is
back! Catch it September 28th at Ocean Speedway.
“The Rocklin Rocket”
Robert Ballou will run the entire National USAC Sprint Car tour
in 2007. Robert is hooked up with long time Karl Kinser crewman
Jimmy Jones. The team based out of
Indianapolis
,
Indiana
will utilize Don Ott Racing bullets, Maxim Chassis’ and
“Rocket” will also put the Circle Racing Wheels to the test.
As you all know by now,
another Californian -“The Demon” Damion Gardner will run the
National Series as well. He will no doubt excite in the Jason
Leffler owned cars.
It’s in this writer’s
opinion that Mike Spencer will fill the seat just fine in the
lil’ red sucker. This kid is not only smart, but fast and
loves to pass race cars. Great choice by the heads of the #50
team.
In Golden State Sprint Car
action I’m going to go with Jason Statler to bring it all home
when the checkered flag falls on the final race. The reason I
say this is because he and his team are fighters. And with any
great fighter that hasn’t been fighting as good as they
should, they take a step back, and figure out how to better
their program. That includes tackling the issues at hand. Watch
out for “The Big Guy” in ’07, I’m tellin’ you!
I’m not implying a cake
walk by any means or trying to take anything away from anyone.
Obviously when you have BK, The Allards, Mr. Day, and the rest
of the GSC shoes in the pits, you’ve got to “bring it”,
and I believe Jason will.
The wild a wooly Chili
Bowl is on tap. I’m sure a lot of beer will be too. For those
of you making the trek, be safe!
