Waterford, CA....Hello everyone! I would like to start out by
apologizing to all of you great fans for not staying up on my
column. I promise no more "laying down".
This week is a big week for Northern California Sprint Car
racing. Majority of the stars and cars from the Golden State
Challenge Series will race 3 races in 4 days thanks to John Padjen
Motorsports. The racing week kicks off Wednesday May 10th at the
always
exciting Placerville Speedway. Then it's on to Silver Dollar
Speedway in Chico, Ca for exciting Friday night 410 and Wingless
Spec-Sprint, Sprint Car action. The weekend concludes with the
ultra-prestigious Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial race.
Dave's torch will always be embedded in this writers heart and soul,
as well as the fans and teams. "JR" was not only a great
race car driver, but a super human being off of the track. Every
time I see brother Alan at the race track, I see the determination,
class and a genuineness that I've always admired in "JR".
Another can't go wrong this weekend is the fabulous announcing that
will be conducted by Placerville Speedway's Bill Sullivan and
Chico's Troy Hennig. They are both extremely knowledgeable about our
sport, and carry a torch full of passion and enthusiasm that
comes out behind the Mic. When you attend these two tracks, you know
that you're listening to two guys who really give a damn about our
sport. And like always, I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it.
We have already had some excellent races in the Golden State.
Jonathan Allard leads the GSC points by a mere 9 points over veteran
Brent Kaeding and Ronnie Day is only 9 back from Kaeding's MAXIM.
It's nice to see that the top 12 in points are really not that far
from each other. This bad boy is going to go down to the wire, and
most likely be determined at the last event.
At Placerville May, 6th, gentleman Andy Forsberg picked up the
tribute to Al Hinds Civil War race, which also included a pretty
good payday for the gasser from Auburn. Congrats to the A&A
Motorsports team.
Kyle Hirst has a new website. You can catch the young shoe at www.KyleHirstRacing.com
Another Nor-Cal shoe and friend to Interrogation is Concord's Damion
Gardner. He sits 2nd in USAC/CRA points only 9 behind Ventura's Cory
Kruseman.
A hello and "glad you're feeling better" to Arizona's Bob
Ream Jr. I thought my buddy from AZ was coming to visit me after he
tangled up with another car at Manzy. Bobby was launched and took 7
hard end-over-end flips.
We also wish a speedy recovery for Merced's SCRA driver Steven
Williams. A huge get well also goes out to Pennsylvania's Mike
Wagner. Mike was injured last weekend at Port Royal Speedway. Cards
can be mailed to Mike Wagner, Hershey Medical Center, 500 University
Drive, Hershey, PA., 17033.
As always, when you see the biggest ugliest dude in the joint, that
will most likely be me. Come on up and say hi. Until then, be good
to yourself!
