Ventura, CA..May 7...Point leader and defending track champion Wiley
Miller added to his point advantage by winning Saturday night's VRA Senior
Sprint Car 20 lap feature from fourth starting after earlier winning his heat
race. An 18 car field appeared as the division supported a USAC/CRA wingless 410
sprint car show. W Miller's point advantage grew as closest point rival Ron Bach
settled for a 15th place finish. Sixth ranked Tom Harper came from 7th to finish
second with sixth starting Tim Moon getting a third place finish. Ron Butler broke in hot laps and the remaining 17 cars were divided into three heat races. W Miller had a perfect night as he won heat 1 over Jim Porter and Moon. Bach did capture heat 2 ahead of Dave Lowenstein and Harper. Previous race feature winner Bob Alderman drove to a win in heat 3 ahead of John Woodward and Dave Marini. Porter and Alderman shared the front row for the 20 lap feature ahead of Bach and W Miller. Alderman had tough luck and finished 17th and top runners Bach and Woodward were 15th and 16th. W Miller posted the 20 lap win ahead of Harper, Moon, Marini, Porter, 17th starting Bruce Douglas, Danny Miller, Tony Lima, Jeff Culver and John Richards. W Miller ended the night wih a 710 point lead over Bach. Moon is another 665 points back in third. Fourth ranked Alderman is 405 points back of Moon and just 35 ahead of Marini. Harper stands sixth ahead of Douglas and Woodward. Summary Heat 1-Wiley Miller, Jim Porter, Tim Moon, Grady Winkler, Tony Lima. |
