- Perris Auto Speedway VP Ken Kazarian has announced a new Sprint
Car series for 1997 called the Southwest Bandit Sprint Car Series.
Skoal will be the sponsor, and the cars will be powered by 360 ci
V8s with aluminum heads. They'll run on methanol and pump out 500
hp. There's a 10 grand points fund and the series comprises 29
races at five west coast tracks.
